LWRC's SPR, Special Purpose Rifle, is a beauty. It debuted last SHOT Show as a prototype and is in production this year. The concept is straight from the big brother the 7.62mm REPR (Rapid Engagement Precision Rifle) but in the smaller 5.56x45mm package.
The SPR is fitted with a cold hammer forged heavy barrel for superior durability and spiral fluting to reduce weight. The fluting shaves 20% off the barrel's weight and gives it better handling and balances well. The SPR is customized out of the box. It comes with the REPR rail system that includes a continuous picatinny rail on top and the sides and bottom are user configurable so you can add rails where you need it. The charging handle comes standard with the BCMGUNFIGHTER, which is ideal for tactical situations. The SPR is finished in CERAKOTE for abrasion and corrosion resistance in "Patriot Brown" which adds a handsome combination with Magpul's MIAD pistolgrip and ACS stock in black.
The SPR is a quality rifle and the minute I picked it up it felt solid and well put together. All the action in the SPR was smooth and buttery. LWRC did a fine job with it. For those who are not familiar with LWRC, go check out this rifle, it'll impress you. It did with me, I know I want one now.
